Brand Story of Villoni®
Established in 1981 by Churlya Wurfel, a design enthusiast with a deep passion for fashion, Villoni® Boutique was named after her daughter, Villoni. The company established on a foundation of strong family values.
The shop initially opened in Double Bay, Sydney, then briefly relocated to Center Point Tower before settling in the prestigious and beautiful Queen Victoria Building in 1985, following the building's remarkable restoration, where it flourished.
There, it became renowned as one of the premier high-end fashion boutiques for women seeking their perfect dress, a reputation it continues to uphold.
Then, in 2008, the flagship store moved from the QVB to the charming family-friendly neighborhood of Annandale, Sydney Australia.
Since then, we’ve been offering a stunning selection of dresses for every occasion, and this year, we are proudly celebrating 43 years of existence!
This is us.

About Villoni
Villoni comes from a family of entrepreneurial women and is the great-great-granddaughter of Nyonya Meneer (1895-1978), the renowned Indonesian inventor of jamu.
She was very close to her grandmother and spent a significant amount of time with her in Indonesia. Her grandmother shared the story of how she chose her name. "Villoni" is a European surname, and she had given her mother five names to choose from—ultimately, her mother selected Villoni.
Villoni was featured on the cover of Australian Indonesia Magazine and appeared as a guest judge on Australia’s Next Top Model for an episode.
Customers would often ask her mother, "Who came first, your daughter or the shop?" To which she always replied, "My daughter. I loved her name so much that I named the shop after her.
I spent much of my childhood in my Oma's jamu factory in Indonesia and also grew up in the Villoni shop in Sydney alongside my mum. Mum would put me in flower girl dresses and make me walk the run way. I must admit, I did enjoy it!
By the age of 16, I was working with her, learning dress design, business, and the art of styling women. I firmly believes that there is a perfect dress for every woman and my purpose is to make women feel beautiful. My grandmother and the story of Nynona Meneer has always given me strength and inspiration. - Villoni
